Ovagen is a small, three-amino-acid lab-made peptide (called EDL). Despite a name that sounds like it's about eggs or ovaries, the scientists who made it actually assigned it to kidney cells and liver protection, not reproductive function (Molecules 2021).
Mechanism under study
In aging kidney cells grown in a lab dish, Ovagen appeared to bind to DNA and adjust levels of a protein called p53 (a protein that helps control whether cells grow, repair themselves, or self-destruct). This seemed to make old cells act more like young cells — dividing more and showing fewer "aging" markers (Adv Gerontol 2014). Computer models suggest it might slide into a specific groove in the DNA spiral (Adv Gerontol 2014) and possibly get transported into cells via special doorways (Biomolecules 2023).

There are no human clinical trials of Ovagen — none identified.
Preclinical evidence summary
There is no real animal study either. The liver-protection claim only shows up as a passing mention in a review article written by the same research group, without a traceable original experiment behind it (Molecules 2021). The actual data that exists comes from kidney cells grown in a lab dish, described above.
