This blend pairs two Russian-developed peptides: Semax, a small modified piece of a hormone called ACTH, and Selank, a synthetic version of a natural immune-system peptide called tuftsin. They're usually supplied as separate vials in matched amounts, commonly 5 mg/5 mg or 10 mg/10 mg, given either as an injection or as a nasal spray.

Mechanism under study

The pitch is that Semax may boost brain function and focus (it's linked to a brain-growth protein called BDNF), while Selank may reduce anxiety. The idea is that combining a 'focus' peptide with a 'calm' peptide should balance each other out — sharper thinking without feeling wired or anxious. This reasoning comes from separate research on each peptide done mostly in Russian scientific literature, not from any study of the two used together.

Human evidence summary

No study has tested Semax and Selank mixed or dosed together as a combination. One 2020 brain-imaging study did look at both peptides in the same research project, but each volunteer received only Semax, only Selank, or a placebo — never both together (Panikratova et al., Dokl Biol Sci 2020). Neither peptide is approved for medical use outside Russia, and both have fairly limited independently repeated research even on their own.
