N-Acetyl Selank Amidate (often called 'NASA' online, unrelated to the space agency) is a lab-modified version of a peptide called Selank, which itself is based on a natural immune-system molecule called tuftsin. Scientists added two small chemical modifications — an 'acetyl' group on one end and an 'amide' group on the other — that are designed to help the peptide resist being broken down by the body. Importantly, no dedicated scientific study of this exact modified version has been found in the medical research database PubMed — nearly everything known about it is borrowed from research on regular Selank.
Mechanism under study
The idea is that it works like Selank but lasts longer or hits harder because those chemical modifications protect it from being chopped up by enzymes in your body (the same way scientists have shown similar changes protect a related peptide, Semax, from being broken down (Semax acetyl proteolysis study)).
